Keynote speaker:
Dr Lesley Wylie

Lesley Wylie is Associate Professor of Latin American Studies at the University of Leicester. She is the author of the books, Colonial Tropes and Postcolonial Tricks: Rewriting the Tropics in the novela de la selva (Liverpool University Press, 2009); Colombia’s Forgotten Frontier: A Literary Geography of the Putumayo (Liverpool University Press, 2013); and The Poetics of Plants in Spanish American Literature (Pittsburgh University Press, 2020). She is particularly interested in the intersections between literature and the environment, with a focus on the Amazon, Cuba, and more recently Argentina. She is currently working on a book project about the Anglo-Argentine author and naturalist, W. H. Hudson. She is Senior Associate Editor of the Bulletin of Spanish Studies.

Women in Spanish and Portuguese Studies is an organisation supporting women academics, teaching and researching within Hispanic and Lusophone Studies.
